10 Actors Who May Have Given Up Acting

1. Kevin Spacey

In late 2017, Kevin Spacey's career was red-hot: he was fresh off appearing in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, had started shooting a new season of House of Cards and filmed an awards-baiting performance in Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World.

Then pervasive sexual assault allegations were levelled against the actor, causing Spacey to be fired from House of Cards and replaced by Christopher Plummer for Scott's movie, while any pending movies were either quietly dumped on VOD or cancelled outright.

Spacey has kept a relatively low profile ever since the scandal erupted, and unsurprisingly, he's been unable to find any production willing to take him on.

The actor naturally professes his innocence while fighting the accusations in court, and was spotted late last year wearing a presumably tongue-in-cheek baseball cap bearing the slogan "Retired since 2017."

But regardless of Spacey's presumed desire to get back to his acting craft, it seems highly probable he's essentially been forced into early retirement (and rightly so). It's tough to imagine the actor's rep ever recovering, and that's surely for the best.
