10 Actors Who Might Save Upcoming Movies

The third Fantastic Beasts film wrapped shooting earlier this year, and fan expectations are understandably shot for two major reasons.

For starters, The Crimes of Grindelwald was a flabbergasting disappointment, and secondly, Johnny Depp was asked to leave the threequel after losing a high-profile defamation lawsuit alleging he committed domestic violence against Amber Heard.

The dismissal came after Depp had already shot a scene for the film, leaving many fans furious that the series' overarching antagonist would now have to be recast.

But the fury was quelled somewhat when Mads Mikkelsen was revealed as his replacement. Mikkelsen, a master at playing slimy villains, is nothing if not a fitting replacement, and given Grindelwald's ability to change his own appearance, there's even a baked-in way to explain why he looks different.

It'd be daft to expect a good film overall, but with Mikkelsen recently promising he'll deliver his own interpretation of the character rather than simply imitate Depp's portrayal, he'll hopefully give an expectation-defying performance that injects the series with a refreshing burst of vitality.

Mikkelsen's never been one for phoning it in, and if the film works at all it'll likely be because of the presence he brings to the part.
