10 Actors Who Must Regret Turning Down 2015’s Biggest Movies

6. Denzel Washington - Furious 7

The Role: Mr. Nobody, the shady operative who employs Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) to retrieve the God's Eye tech in exchange for helping him bring down Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). The part ultimately went to Kurt Russell, but not before Universal sought Washington, who sadly straight-out rejected it. Why They Regret Turning It Down: On one hand, Denzel has absolutely nothing to prove as an actor and he may well see himself as "above" these movies, but given that he didn't have a single movie release in 2015, appearing here would have resulted in him starring in his most financially successful film to date. Perhaps Denzel just wasn't quite aware of how much money these movies make, but it would've been an easy pay-day for the actor. On the other hand, perhaps he didn't want to lock himself into a contract for future movies, considering how notoriously averse to sequels he is. Would It Have Worked?: Of course. Russell was great in the part, but it would've been fascinating to see an actor of Washington's stature hanging out with Dom and his crew.
