10 Actors Who Never Get The Praise They Deserve

2. Montgomery Clift

monty Montgomery Clift rose to prominence around the same time as Marlon Brando and James Dean, and like Brando and Dean, he was a strict method actor committed to his art. That's not where the similarities end between the three men as they were all ridiculously handsome and born to play the vulnerable leading man. Unlike Brando and Dean, however, Clift has been largely forgotten. Brando and Dean are pop culture icons and synonymous with fifties cinema, yet outside of critics, historians and big cinema fans, very little is ever said or written about him. Clift rose to prominence quickly, as his debut role in The Search earned him an Oscar nomination and he later went on to act for directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Elia Kazan and Stanley Kramer. Whilst Clift earned much acclaim during his lifetime (he was nominated for four Academy Awards), he has mostly confined to the history books and his great performances in films such as From Here to Eternity and I Confess don't get the recognition they deserve.
