8. Eddie Redmayne - The Danish Girl

Currently the golden boy of the Hollywood scene, Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for Best Actor earlier this year for his portrait of super smart science man Stephen Hawking in romantic drama The Theory of Everything - a feat he achieved partly thanks to some miraculous make-up, costume design, and physical transformation. Redmayne's next big film, The Danish Girl, already looks prepped to win a bunch of Oscars - and going by the fact that the actor has transformed himself into - gasp! - a woman in order to play the part of real life transgender woman Lili Elbe, it looks pretty certain that he'll be met with at least a nomination for Best Actor, because Hollywood loves that sort of thing, don't they? Also: look how pretty he looks here. You'd never know. The movie, directed by Tom Hooper (who Redmayne worked with previously on Les Miserables), co-stars Alicia Vikander (in everything now), Amber Heard and Ben Whishaw, and is based on the novel by David Ebershoff, which focuses on the true story of Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sexual reassignment surgery.
