First: Daredevil's sidekick in lawyering but not superheroics, Foggy Nelson in Daredevil.

But Then: Iron Man's sidekick in billionaire philanthropy but not superheroics, Happy Hogan in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3.

How Did It Work Out?

Swingers star Favreau had already cropped up very briefly in Batman Forever a few years before he appeared alongside another night-time vigilante (and future Bruce Wayne) Ben Affleck in Daredevil. 

The part of Matt Murdock's partner in prosecution Foggy Nelson is perhaps now more associated with The Mighty Ducks' Elden Henson in the new Netflix series than Favreau. The Elf director, though, does a decent job in a small role in the better-than-you-remember-it Mark Steven Johnson film, particularly in the superior director's cut which gives Foggy plenty more to do.

The film may not have been a break-out success, but the same couldn't be said for Favreau's next turn as a chubby assistant to a crimson suited crime-fighter. Tony Stark's driver Happy Hogan may not be the most thrilling role in the MCU, but he gets his moments to shine thanks to his director: himself. 

Still enjoying an executive producer credit on both Avengers films, Favreau is undoubtedly someone who has benefited greatly from switching from non-MCU Marvel pictures to Marvel's own productions.
