10 Actors Who Publicly Hated Their Own Films

8. Mickey Rourke - Passion Play

Mickey Rourke has never been one to beat around the bush; that's why his career has crashed and burned not once, but twice in the past 20 years. After successfully resurrecting his career with The Wrestler, he alienated Hollywood once again in record time, by - for instance - making comments like, "I'm not a Marvel fan", after making Iron Man 2, a Marvel film. Rourke hasn't been kind about Iron Man 2 - he called the film and its kind "mindless" - but his harshest judgement ever was reserved for Mitch Glazer's Passion Play. If you've never heard of the film, and you probably haven't, Passion Play stars Rourke as a musician trying to protect a winged Megan Fox from a gangster, played by Bill Murray (really). "Terrible, another terrible movie" - those are the words Rourke used to describe the film to Vulture, who in fairness weren't even trying to tease out any controversial soundbites. When pressed on why Passion Play was only getting a limited release, Rourke didn't hesitate: "That's because it's not very good." And that's why Mickey Rourke is now only allowed to make movies like Passion Play.
