Remember Ben Affleck before he started directing movies? Yeah, that wasn't a happy period, especially when almost every film the actor was making was bombing and dragging his career further and further into the mud. Daredevil may not be the worst film in Ben Affleck's back catalogue - that honour would go to Gigli, a film so bad even Affleck's ex Jennifer Lopez said it "sucked" - but it was still a huge road block in the Affleck career trajectory. No wonder, the film is awful, and Affleck was only too ready to point that out once the dust had settled and he was on his way back to fame after the success of Argo. In 2011, Affleck told Playboy that the only movie he truly regretted was Daredevil, saying, "It just kills me...the fact that it got f***ed up the way it did stays with me". Affleck himself even acknowledged the controversy of 'the Daredevil guy' getting the Batman gig, saying he'd be out there picketing the movie himself if Batman Vs Superman turned out to be another rubbish, Affleck-starring superhero movie.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
