10 Actors Who Really Need To Fire Their Agent
4. Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler's breakthrough role as the bearded, six-packed and very shouty King Leonidas in 300 should have launched the Glaswegian actor to super-stardom as Hollywood's newest action hero. Instead, a series of poor career choices have made the 47 year-old's mere presence in a movie an indicator of generally poor quality.
Sure, there have been several box office successes in the intervening years (notably Olympus and London Has Fallen), but only one of Butler's live-action roles in the last ten years currently holds a 'fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Which is hardly surprising really when you remember that Gods of Egypt, Movie 43 and Playing For Keeps are all things that exist.
So where does he possibly go from here? His Hollywood goodwill is running low after a series of flops, accents aren't his strong point and critics have never exactly lauded his acting abilities. At this stage of his career Butler would be more suited to being a supporting player or possibly even consider a move to television, as his career as a leading man is on its last legs.
