Downton Abbey is a dramatic place that captured the world's attention from 2010 to 2015. It's also not real. However, that didn't stop fans of the series from being incredibly upset when Lord Grantham made a decision that accidentally resulted in the death of his own daughter. So of course the natural reaction to a fictional death is to try to kill the actor who did his job and read the words written for him in the script. And that's what happened. After the episode aired actor Hugh Bonneville was sent hate mail, tweets wishing him a swift death, and even a bomb threat.

If this incident has taught us anything it's that the British seem to handle death threats differently than the rest of the world, or at least Hugh Bonneville does. After all of the threats died down, Bonneville went on the record and said, "it's a real compliment that they care so much." How delightfully British.
