The debate over how far a production should go when trying to remain as faithful to the source material it is based on will seemingly never die when it comes time to adapt a beloved novel/comic book.

Sure, it's always cool to see moments from the page brought to life on screen in exactly the way you imagined they would, but sometimes changing things up a little can actually have a more positive knock-on effect. That was the thought process shared by Jennifer Lawrence when she was preparing to take on the role of Katniss Everdeen in the highly anticipated cinematic spin on The Hunger Games franchise.

Instead of "accurately" portraying the version of Katniss that fans had read about early on in the series, that of a frail and malnourished survivor, the eventual Oscar winner decided to take a different approach.

As Lawrence put it, “This is a person that young girls – well, all women, but mainly young girls – will be looking up to and are going to want to look like her, and we have control over it, so why not make her strong? Why not make her beautiful and healthy and fit?"

Why not, indeed?
