10 Actors Who Refused To Die On Screen

4. Dennis Haysbert - 24

There's no death in 24 more universally upsetting than that of former U.S. President David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), who is shot dead at the beginning of the fifth season.

And fans weren't the only ones mad about it - Dennis Haysbert himself objected enough to Palmer's demise that he even dodged the production for several months, refusing to shoot the planned death scene. In a 2007 interview with Digital Spy, Haysbert said:

"I just refused to do it for a great many months. Then they sent one of my friends, who's now the show's runner, and he convinced me to do it because they needed to launch the season. They said they really couldn't do it without me... If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't do it."

Indeed, Haysbert did eventually capitulate and film the devastating death scene, but one can only hope he was at least able to wrangle a hefty payday for his final appearance on the hit show.
