10 Actors Who Refused To Die On Screen

3. Sean Bean - All Future Projects

There are few actors who can lay claim to having died on-screen as much as Sean Bean, fewer still who have amassed a cult of fandom centered around their own cinematic mortality.

Bean has died almost 30 times throughout his career across film, TV, and video games, and after years of enduring the jokes about how he never lives to see the end of movies - enough that it's a genuine surprise when he does - he decided to stop taking roles where he perishes.

In 2019, the Game of Thrones star revealed that he's started turning down parts where he dies, telling The Sun:

"I've turned down stuff. I've said, 'They know my character's going to die because I'm in it!' I just had to cut that out and start surviving, otherwise it was all a bit predictable. I did do one job and they said, 'We're going to kill you,' and I was like, 'Oh no!' and then they said, 'Well, can we injure you badly?' and I was like, 'OK, so long as I stay alive this time.'"

Indeed, Bean's various roles over the last five-or-so years have largely seen him make it to the end in one piece, though if/when he dies again on screen, hopefully it'll be a death scene worth remembering.
