10 Actors Who Refused To Make Sacrifices For Movie Roles

4. Sorry Mad Men, Thomas Jane Doesn't Do TV

This one€™s possibly the most cringe-inducing decision on this list. Former Punisher actor Thomas Jane turned down the lead role as Don Draper in Mad Men because €“ as his agent purportedly phrased it to the producers €“ "Thomas Jane doesn€™t do TV." Little did he know at the time, but if Jane had sacrificed his pride and taken the step from the big screen down to the small, he could€™ve been front and centre in one of programmes that really raised the bar and put television in close competition with cinema in terms of quality. Instead, Jon Hamm took the part and quickly became a household name. Fast forward to the present day, and it€™s clear to see how hugely this decision backfired. In the years since Mad Men started, Thomas Jane has graciously descended to TV repeatedly (Hung, Texas Rising, The Expanse), but failed to find a smash hit as successful as the show he turned down. That€™s some serious hubris, isn't it?
