10 Actors Who Refused To Make Sacrifices For Roles
5. Thomas Jane Doesn't Do TV - Mad Men
Few television roles have become as synonymous with a supremely talented actor as Mad Men's leading ball of charisma, advertising executive Don Draper is with the equally mesmerising John Hamm.
However, there was once a moment in time when Hamm wasn't actually in line to step into the shoes of this fictional titan of the advertising world in the '60s. Long before Hamm would go on to be one of the most recognisable faces the small screen had to offer, the role was actually offered up to none other than the star of Deep Blue Sea and The Punisher: Thomas Jane.
But, luckily for Hamm, as the star himself revealed on the WTF podcast later down the road, Jane reportedly wasn't ready to sacrifice the perception of him being a movie star to appear in the series. As his agent put it, "Thomas Jane doesn't do television".
Hilariously, he, of course, ultimately did. Just two years on from the debut of Mad Men, Jane popped up in Hung, but said show didn't go on to be quite as successful as Hamm's Mad Men.
