10 Actors Who Refused To Promote Their Own Movies
3. Lindsey Lohan - The Canyons
It probably shouldn't have come as that much of a surprise to director Paul Schrader when The Canyons (2013) star Lindsay Lohan snubbed her promotional responsibilities once the film had wrapped.
Whilst filming the project in question, Lohan was reportedly fired by the director after she failed to show up to work one day. However, she was eventually brought back on board to finish the feature.
Yet, despite her history of no-showing, Schrader still seemed to be shocked when Lohan suddenly decided she didn't want to support the film in person at the Venice Film Festival.
Commenting via Facebook post, the Taxi Driver and Raging Bull writer confessed:
'I am mystified and disappointed by LL's refusal to support The Canyons ... She repeatedly said she would come to Venice but never did. … She never showed for the photo sessions, including the session for the ad campaign art.'
Lohan had recently just completed a stint in rehab and later revealed on her website that she ducked the Venice event to focus on her "health and well-being", before adding that she was "never confirmed to attend".
Though Schrader was understandably upset by her decision, he did still admit that the film was an "extraordinary piece of work and serves her well". He also celebrated Lohan's performance by telling the star, "Lindsay, your work is excellent. Own it!"
