10 Actors Who Should Play The Joker In Suicide Squad

4. Mel Gibson

While this may sound like a completely ludicrous suggestion at first, think about for a minute and the idea makes a lot more sense. The Joker is a complex, intelligent, and ultimately deranged character, with the role requiring an actor that can successfully convey these characteristics on the big screen, and over the last 30 years there have been very few actors as consistently great at playing characters that are charismatic, eccentric, dangerous and more than a little crazy than Mel Gibson. Even though he was linked to the role of Batman way back when Tim Burton's movie was first announced, there's no reason to believe that Gibson couldn't pull off playing the Joker if he was cast tomorrow. Despite his well-publicized personal troubles he remains a fantastic actor, and his turn in The Expendables 3 was the best thing in the movie by far. At 58 he may be far too old for the role but The Expendables 3 showed that he remains in great physical shape, and could offer an imposing physical threat to complement the Joker's signature mind games. It would make sense that Ben Affleck's older and grizzled Batman has been at war with the Joker for decades, and they don't come much more grizzled than Mad Mel. Gibson's blend of charisma, intensity and borderline insanity could result in an inspired piece of casting that comes straight out of left-field.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
