10 Actors Who Should Replace Ben Affleck As Batman

Look, it's unlikely that Warner Bros would actively try and bring Nolan's Batman universe and the DCEU together consciously, because of the difficulties with the timeline and the fact that we've already seen another version of the Joker, but if Fox's approach to the X-Men franchise has proven anything it's that fans will forgive continuity explosions if the results are entertaining enough. And even a hint at a continuation of Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises timeline with Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Batman would be incredibly exciting.

Again, he would be an entirely different prospect to Affleck's take on the character - which would be a good thing if the film-makers are indeed looking for a "fresh approach" - thanks to how different he'd look as Batman.

Perhaps it's the purist in me, but the idea of Batman in the Michael Keaton mould who couldn't necessarily rely on superhuman strength but had to use ingenuity and guile in combat is far more interesting, and Gordon-Levitt would pull that off with aplomb. And he's already proven himself adept at adapting to some fairly wildly different roles in the past, so stepping into Wayne's shoes would presumably not be a task too far.
