10 Actors Who Should Replace Cavill As Superman

5. Zac Efron

Though his career started with the double-edged sword of success that was High School Musical, Zac Efron has done incredibly well to cast off the shackles of typecasting and proved himself a gifted and charismatic actor. He has the right sort of look, can train himself into incredible shape (thanks Dwayne) and is hugely likeable, which we're going to need for the next Superman.

Rumours abound that he actually turned the role down in Man Of Steel (pass the salt, please), but the very fact that his name came up in that conversation suggests he might not be an outrageous choice.

For anyone looking for further evidence of why he'd suit the role, look no further than the fact that he looks a lot like Tyler Hoechlin, the most recent actor to play Superman on TV. It's not concrete by any means, but it certainly offers visual precedent.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
