"And for the next trick, we are going to watch Isla Fisher's life disappear."

Well... almost.

Released in 2013, Now You See Me was a breath of fresh air with its original take on the heist genre and featured an impressive cast performing visually stunning magic tricks (or illusions if you prefer).

In Isla Fisher's first scene of the film, she is performing to a crowd in Los Angeles and about to do her own take on the notorious water tank escape only this time - with piranhas! Fisher's character "struggles" with the locks and thrashes against the glass in panic. As the timer runs out, the piranhas are released from above filling the tank in blood. Icky.

In a miraculous occurrence which can only be described as magic, her character turns out fine and emerges from the crowd dripping wet and smiling.

Although Fisher's character seemed to have been faking her struggle to build suspense, Isla Fisher revealed she was genuinely struggling with the locks and the fear and panic portrayed in that scene was not an act at all. To make matters worse, the directors, thought she was just giving a very convincing performance until a crew member clocked on and fished Fisher out.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
