Despite beating Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in Brokeback Mountain to the Oscar in 2006, it was Clooney that was left with literal a broken back after a torture scene went horribly wrong on set for the movie Syriana.

During what is one of the most gruesome torture scenes ever made, Clooney's character's finger nails are removed with pliers and his gorgeous face gets battered to a pulp by Mark Strong. After receiving one hell of a whack, Clooney genuinely falls to the floor and smashes his head against the cold concrete.

Apparently, he hit his head in such a way that the spinal fluid protecting his brain was torn resulting in severe bruising. For a whole year, Clooney suffered from intense headaches and memory loss so much so that he would had to do daily exercises to improve his memory. Even whilst filming Good Night and Good Luck, he had to have his lines written down and hidden off camera.

Clooney refused to take painkillers out of fear of becoming addicted but, after a number of surgeries, the pain eventually dissipated. Try though the doctors did, however, the surgery was unsuccessful in removing the memory of him wearing nipples on his Batsuit.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
