10 Actors Who Thought They Were Playing Other Comic Book Villains

Who He Was Supposed To Play: The best humanity has to offer, Lex Luthor is an absolute egomaniac, but a justified one. He’s a scientific genius and ruthless businessman who will go to any length to prove that humanity doesn’t need super-powered gods watching over them.

Who He Really Played: Unfortunately, all of Eisenberg's weird tics and the schizophrenic-like personality he put on would have made for an incredible Riddler. Lex Luthor doesn’t have a quirky personality, he’s serious and assertive, whereas Eisenberg’s Lex failed to capture that same gravitas.

Conversely, his intricate mannerisms far better befitted a villain from the wrong hero’s library. The comparison isn't helped by the fact that even the trailers painted him as such, with the same question “do you know the oldest lie in America, senator?” being asked in every one. It would seem that he strayed a little too far in his research, and it’s a shame, because Eisenberg is a good actor, and likely could have switched up how he was playing the character if he knew how it was going to come off like someone else entirely.
