4. Emily Blunt- Iron Man 2 & Captain America: The First Avenger
The Rejected Role: Super-spy Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow and SSR Agent Peggy Carter, played by Scarlett Johansson and Haley Atwell respectively.
What Happened?: Quite unexpectedly, Emily Blunt is one of the best action movie actors in Hollywood right now. Thanks to her awesome turns in Edge of Tomorrow and Sicario, Blunt has succeeded where Sam Worthington and Jai Courtney have failed- giving us a kick-ass action star with charm.
She's a no-brainer for a superhero movie and Marvel was wise enough to go after her with perhaps their two most badass female characters; Peggy Carter and Black Widow. But Blunt turned down both roles presumably because she thought she was more suitable to play Thor. I mean the girl is ripped!
For Better Or Worse?
We know full well that Blunt could have brought it for the action scenes and she's also a great comedic actress which could have been incorporated into either role.
Both Atwell and Johansson are great in their roles, but I have no doubt Blunt would have crushed it in the MCU. Oh well, there's always Captain Marvel.
