6. Brendan Fraser Wore A 300lbs Fat Suit - The Whale
Reintroducing himself in the most heartbreaking and engaging way imaginable over the course of the routinely painful and mesmerising tale of The Whale, Brendan Fraser's committed comeback performance as the extremely obese Charlie has quite rightly led to a ton of critical acclaim being sent the star's way.
Rather than donning a fat suit similar to the sort often found in comedy flicks, one that typically defies gravity, Fraser, director Darren Aronofsky and the rest of the team opted for a far more legitimate suit when creating the heavy physique of the leading character.
In the end, after trying to pack on enough weight for the role and still not convincingly looking like a 600lbs human, a suit that weighed a staggering 300lbs was created for Fraser. The prosthetic was packed full of everything from airsoft pellets to marbles in order to nail the desired effect of the character believably carrying around such a great weight, ensuring it very much obeyed the laws of physics and gravity.
And carrying such a seismic amount of body mass on set soon made Fraser realise that an individual actually walking around at that weight in real-life had "to be very strong, physically and emotionally."
