And now for the first instance of an actor very much being rumbled in the midst of what appeared to be some very cunning undercover work.

Instead of managing to smoothly slip into an Orthodox Community whilst researching for her role in 2017's Disobedience as Esti - a woman who reignites an affair with Rachel Weisz's Ronit in the flick - The Notebook and Mean Girls star soon found out that just not making eye contact and attempting to go under the radar simply isn't enough to go unnoticed sometimes.

Explaining how her quest to get a better understanding of the community through the lens of an average civilian was thwarted by her stardom, McAdams recalled:

"They recognised me right away and, by the following day, everyone knew about everywhere I went. But they were very kind and I was even invited to a beautiful Shabbat dinner."

The star's research also took her to London, where the film is set, with McAdams also noting that, "I also hosted a book club, focusing on the novel the film is based on and I cooked traditional Jewish meals."

Though she likely balanced this research with answering questions about Gretchen Wieners and Doctor Strange, naturally.
