9. Brad Pitt
Film: Troy (2004) This injury is less dumb for the way that it was brought about, but more silly due to the irony of the setting and the character that Brad Pitt was playing. In filming the the gripping battle scene between Pitt and Eric Bana in between the two warring armies, Achilles found out a little earlier than he should have about the weakest area of his body. Indeed, it turns out that Pitt was definitely the perfect choice for the role, because he appears to share the same physical weaknesses as his character. Attempting a jumping strike manoeuvre, Pitt landed awkwardly on his left feet, and ended up tearing his Achilles tendon. This injury, along with certainly drawing a wry smile from the actor, would actually leave the director and producers less than amused, as the filming of the costly movie had to be placed on hold whilst their star performer recovered from his injuries. Fortunately for him, unlike Achilles, when he fell he was immediately surrounded by medical personnel and assisting stage-hands. When the Greek hero's heel capitulated, he only had Trojan soldiers for company.
