10 Actors Who Were REJECTED For Recent Movies (And Why)
1. Paul Rudd - Halloween Kills
The Role: An older version of Tommy Doyle, the Michael Myers survivor who Rudd previously played way back in 1995's sixth Halloween film, The Curse of Michael Myers. In the end, the middle-aged Tommy was played by Anthony Michael Hall.
Why He Was Rejected: In the pre-production stages of Halloween Kills, producer Malek Akkad floated the idea of reaching out to Paul Rudd and seeing if he would be interested in reprising the role of Tommy in the belated sequel.
Though Rudd was reportedly enthusiastic about the idea, he was also set to shoot Ghostbusters: Afterlife at the same time that Halloween Kills was planning to film.
Given Halloween Kills' lower-budget, seat-of-the-pants production - it was shot in just six weeks - it simply wasn't possible to shuffle things around in order to accommodate Rudd, and so the unfortunate decision was made to move on without him.
Hall did, however, receive Rudd's blessing to carry the torch for Tommy, and no matter what people think of Kills' divisive narrative, Hall did a sound enough job in the role.
