Friday the 13th fans regularly point out the curious fact that no actor is credited as playing Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, no matter that it's widely known these days that the part was played by stuntman Ted White.

It's often been stated that White didn't have any affinity for the horror genre and simply took the part for the paycheck, hence why he asked to be uncredited, but a large part of White's decision not to seek a credit was his on-set disagreements with director Joseph Zito.

The pair reportedly clashed during production, with White getting angry at Zito's treatment of the young cast during more challenging scenes, enough that he threatened to quit the film entirely.

Ultimately White asked for his name to be removed from the final movie, though ironically his performance as Jason remains one of the series' most popular.

White turned down invitations to return for the next two films, though agreed to be credited when archive footage of his original portrayal was used in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.

In his later years White at least appeared to embrace the fandom for his portrayal of Jason, becoming a regular on the horror convention circuit.
