10 Actors Who Will Definitely Ruin Upcoming Movies
7. Martin Lawrence - Bad Boys For Life
Now, nobody will seriously sit and tell you that Martin Lawrence wasn't a huge factor in the success of the first Bad Boys movie. In actual fact, he was better in it than Will Smith was, because he was the comedy half of the duo and the script was far more generous to him. If you want to see the first hints of why the third movie in this franchise might not be quite as good as the first and why Lawrence's position in it might be the key problem, look no further than the first sequel.
Clearly buoyed by the success of the comedy, the sequel went bigger on it, pushing Lawrence's character into even more goofy territory - including that embarrassing rat sex scene - and the results were inferior. Fast forward 16 years and we're getting a follow-up and while Smith has had so much success that he's back out of the other side of it, Lawrence has had less good fortunes since.
He had a couple of hits, but he's mostly known for his Big Momma role, which was sillier again. And it's hard to see how someone who has worked so little will be able to capture the old cynical magic of the first movie when the studio will NATURALLY be pushing him to be the comic relief again.
