10 Actors Who Won Oscars For The Wrong Movie
5. Jeff Bridges - Crazy Heart
Crazy Heart is a brilliant film. Released in 2009, it follows faded country star Bad Blake as he attempts to fix up his life and get back to doing what he loves best: making music.
Truly, Jeff Bridges is a revelation in the film - flawed but likeable, powerful but subtle, moving and bursting with passion.
But it is by no means his most Oscar worthy performance. That honour goes to The Big Lebowski, a movie which has stood the test of time to become one of cult cinema's most popular and iconic surreal comedies. Bridges' role as The Dude is nothing short of cinematic brilliance, and it was the actor's relaxed, subtle and complex portrayal of him that made the film such a wild success.
Most tragically of all, Bridges wasn't even nominated for the film, and it wouldn't be until 2010 that he finally took home the Best Actor gong.
He should have won for Crazy Heart, but in this writer's opinion it really should have been his second statue.
