10 Actors With Upcoming Projects That Could Make Or Break Their Careers
5. Jack O'Connell - Seberg
The Project
You'd be forgiven for getting a bit exctied about this one. Seberg looks set to be the under-cover hit of 2019. The story covers a young F.B.I. agent (Jack O'Connell), assigned to investigate the iconic actress, Jean Seberg (Kristen Stewart), leading to her becoming wrapped up in the events of the civil rights movement in late 1960s LA.
The cast includes Anthony Mackie, Vince Vaughn and Zazie Beetz (with The Aftermath writer's Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse on board, as well) - it looks set to be a must watch.
Why It's Make Or Break
O'Connell burst onto the scene with his now legendary turn as the cocksure, Cooke in the Channel 4 series Skins and the world looked as if it would be his oyster on the back of performances like Unbroken and Starred Up.
He's a force when he's at full tilt but, for whatever reason, he isn't connecting with a mainstream movie-going audience. Both of these performances and his turn in Money Monster were good to great but the films themselves didn't break the wheel or leave much of a mark on that years awards scene or even in the memories of O'Connell's British fanbase.
He has been cutting his teeth on the West End recently in Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and received acclaim for his take on the role of tortured alcoholic, Brick. Benedict Andrews helped guide him as director in that play and returns to the seat for Seberg, which could spell a recipe for success.
