10 Actors You Won't Believe Almost Played Spider-Man

10. Charlie Sheen

Renowned Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen, who has spent the last few years "winning" on the back of his undiagnosed insanity alone, might not seem like the obvious choice to play Peter Parker - especially since it's hard to see past the fact that Charlie Sheen is probably nuts and shouldn't be allowed to play any iconic characters, ever. Believe it or not, though, the actor - best known, perhaps, for his role in Oliver Stone's Vietnam war flick Platoon, and for the same director's Wall Street - once campaigned to be the first Peter Parker. This was a while ago, of course, back when Sheen was neither a running joke, nor 48-years-old. According to the actor: €œI had an office at Orion at the time, and I brought them Spider-Man. I said, €˜Look, in a couple of years, I€™ll be too old to play Peter Parker.€™ And they said, €˜Yeah, we€™re just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future.€™ And I said, €˜But it€™s Spider-Man, I€™m perfect.€™ And they were like, €˜Nah, we€™re gonna wait.'" He was reportedly very close to securing the rights, but it all fell through. We should be grateful?
