10 Actors You Forgot Had Minor Roles In War Movies
5. Brian Cox - Braveheart
Okay, Braveheart may be one of the least accurate "historic" movie adaptations of all time, but you can't deny how astoundingly entertaining it is. Thanks to the creatively gruelling battle sequences, the enchanting score, and the biggest mooning the world has ever seen, you can see why Braveheart is regarded as a classic.
That's why it's a shame people forget Brian Cox is a part of the film's legacy, since he plays William Wallace's uncle, Argyle. Near the beginning, Argyle takes the young lad in after William's brother and father are slain by English soldiers. Although William is set on avenging his family, his uncle has him educated in books before teaching him the ways of the sword. Even though these scenes are brief, they highlight how Wallace was raised as a knowledgeable man, which emphasises how he became a noble warrior and leader, rather than a bloodthirsty brute.
Despite the fact Cox's character is crucial in shaping Wallace into a legendary hero, the Welsh actor only appears in the first few minutes, which is why most viewers don't remember him.
