10 Actors You Forgot Had Minor Roles In War Movies

4. Evangeline Lilly - The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker follows bomb specialist, William James, who enlists in the army during the Iraqi War. Even though William is exceptional at his job, his reckless attitude causes him to butt heads with his squad.

The Hurt Locker won multiple Oscars, including Best Director, making Katheryn Bigelow the first female filmmaker to receive the award. Despite its legacy, a lot of people forget Evangeline Lilly plays William's ex-wife, Connie.

Now, the most common reason that viewers forget an actor starred in a film is because they only made a brief appearance. However, Guy Pearce only shows up in the opening but nobody forgets his scene (but that's because it's freaking awesome!) Unfortunately, it's hard to notice Evangeline Lilly since her appearance is often obscured by her hair or darkness. (You can't see her face at all in her first scene.)

Connie only appears for 90 seconds but her character is pivotal. Although she's happy when her ex-husband returns home, William makes it clear he can no longer function in civilian life. Even though Connie doesn't say anything about his behaviour, you can tell by her body language that she knows William is destined to leave her again.
