10 Adored Movie Characters You'd Learn to Hate in Real Life

2. James Bond

Who He Is in the Movie: The Suave, Dashing Hero Who Shows No Mercy Who He Is in Real Life: "That" Real Prick If you're a man, James Bond is that picture-perfect older brother whose shadow you can never escape. If you're a woman, James Bond will see you for an appointment between midnight and six in the morning for one night only. The thing about Bond (that the newer movies are trying to be rid of) is that he's less a person and more a machine. He's calculating, decisive, and incredibly selfish, but we love him because of his debonair methods and for the fact that, as much as we'd hate his personality in real life, he does always manage to get the job done. But Bond would never talk to you in real life if you weren't part of MI6 or his current mission. He's that guy who's got no time for regular people, is always working or flirting (occasionally both), and then is under constant celebration because of it. Fantastic literary model for a specific archetype of character. Horrible person in reality.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
