10 Alien Mistakes Neill Blomkamp Should Totally Erase
8. The Shared Alien/Predator Universe
All things considered, have the Alien and Predator universes really felt all that connected in the way that they're supposed to? Does it actually make a whole lot of sense, or is the studio making things a lot more complicated in its attempts to keep some sort of "official" canon going between these two very different franchises? Not only that, but the Alien Vs. Predator movies - for lack of a better descriptive term - have all been absolutely tragic. Seriously: it wouldn't be inaccurate to call them "bottom of the barrel schlock" - especially since not a single entry in the half-hearted series has offered up anything other than ridiculous plots, terrible dialogue cues, forgettable characters, heaps of continuity errors, and awkward special effects. It seems sensible that Blomkamp, assuming he is granted a fair amount of leeway with regards to what stays and canon and what doesn't, disconnects the Alien and Predator universe once and for all. Especially if he intends to tell a story that follows on from Aliens at a time when Alien Vs. Predator wasn't a thing.
