10 Alien Mistakes Neill Blomkamp Should Totally Erase
7. The Events Of Aliens: Colonial Marines
The 2013 video game Alien: Colonial Marines, which took place following the events of Aliens, was met with mostly terrible reviews. It is also considered to be canon by the likes of 20th Century Fox; something that didn't seem all that intrusive before Blomkamp announced that he was working on Alien 5, but now serves to complicate matters in the long run - especially if, as stated, Blomkamp intends to set the movie in the wake of Aliens. The plot inherent to Colonial Marines saw one Corporal Christopher Winter and his team on a search and rescue mission to find Ripley, Hicks and Newt, 17 weeks after Aliens. Now, of course, the fact that Colonial Marines exists just imbues the Alien canon with an unnecessary story that will probably get in the way when it comes to retconning whatever needs to be retconned in order to make Alien 5 the best movie imaginable. Aliens: Colonial Marines was also super disappointing and terrible in almost every way, so any excuse to wipe it from the official Alien canon is welcome.
