10 Alternate Star Wars Movie Scenes We Almost Got To See
6. Qui-Gon And Obi-Wan Take Down A Small Army - The Phantom Menace
If there's one thing 1999's ridiculously anticipated jump backwards in Star Wars time wasn't lacking, it was the sight of impressive Jedi chopping down bumbling droids.
From slicing various slapstick battle droids to bits in the film's opening sequence, to cutting up the Trade Federation's weapon of choice in the middle of Naboo, robot sadists more than got their fill in The Phantom Menace. But what we saw in that original theatrical cut wasn't the only droid drubbing on the cards when deciding on how to show off Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn's prowess with both the Force and a lightsaber.
It was said that an early storyboard for the first Episode that was eventually scrapped would've involved both of the powerful Jedi going on a mad one and smashing up a small army's worth of blaster-wielding droids at one point in the flick. Whether this went down in the thick of the Trade Federation-occupied Naboo or on the deck of a space ship hurtling through space has never been officially confirmed, but who would honestly turn down the chance to see this terrific duo make more mechanical mince meat out of machines?
