10 Alternative Comics That Would Make Killer Movies

9. Powers

Plot: Combining the superhero and police procedural genres, Brian Michael Bendis's comic follows two human homicide detectives who are assigned to investigate crimes involving people with superhuman abilities, known as 'powers', in this suspense-filled read. The Pitch: CSI: Metropolis. Why It Would Make A Killer Movie: Juxtaposing the superhero genre and the police procedural genre gives Powers a fresh perspective; seeing the action through the eyes of the cops. The two cops in question; Detectives Walker and Pilgrim, are a veteran and rookie respectively and both have compelling story arcs of their own as they investigate murders involving both superheroes and villains. Powers flips the standard clichés you usually find with this material and has a surprisingly high body count. FX picked up Powers and filmed a pilot episode back in 2011 but after reshoots and re-casting it fizzled out. Brian Michael Bendis stated last year that he was hopeful the show is still alive meaning we could still see this Eisner Award winning comic series on the big (or small) screen sometime soon.
