10 Alternative Must See Films Of 2014

9. Grand Budapest Hotel

Next up for your consideration is Grand Budapest Hotel which is released in March. The film is written and directed by Wes Anderson and is set in a European hotel in the 1920's and focuses on a famed concierge called Gustave H. played by Ralph Fiennes who is bequeathed a painting by a one night stand following her death. When he is framed for her murder he must escape the authorities and clear his name. With a cast which includes regular Anderson alumni Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody and Edward Norton joining newcomers like Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Saoirse Ronan and Willem Dafoe, all playing a veritable rogues gallery of interesting characters, combined with Andersons distinct visual and narrative style that is all his own, Grand Budapest Hotel looks set to be one of the most original and funniest comedies released in 2014. If you don't fancy the highbrow laughs of Wes Anderson but still fancy a jaunt through Europe though then you could opt for 300: Rise Of An Empire which is also released in March. In takes place before, during and after the events of 300 with Lena Headley, Rodrigo Santoro and David Wenham all reprising their roles from the first film. But no Gerald Butler and no Zack Snyder may mean no chance of repeating the success of 300. Time will tell.
