10 Amazing 2014 Performances That Changed Your Mind About Actors You Hate

2. Michael Keaton - Birdman

Okay, so you may not have hated Keaton for the last several years but you may very well have been bored of him. After successfully working with Tim Burton on Beetlejuice, Batman and Batman Returns, Keaton played it safe for a while. Keaton has just been kind of 'there' for a long time, popping up every now and again in something or other. He was good as the TLC-quoting Police Captain in The Other Guys but aside from that (and a voice role in Toy Story 3) there hasn't been much to brag about. 2014's Birdman has changed everything for Keaton. The role of a lifetime, it has brought him back to the attention of the public and he's nailed-on to be nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming Academy Awards. He has finally been afforded the chance to let loose again as a fading actor whose trying to put on a broadway show while struggling with the superhero character that once made him famous. Don't be surprised to see Keaton walk away with the gold statue next month.
