10 Amazing Horror Movies You'll Never Watch Again

4. The Strangers

As far as home invasion horrors go this is a bit of a classic. Especially with its first 15 minutes setting up our central couple as real people with real problems and fleshed out backgrounds, it makes the brutality of the film’s main content even harsher.

For what it contributes to the home invasion subgenre, The Strangers certainly is deserving of praise. It is the perfect demonstration of everything that makes said subgenre scary: the disruption of somewhere supposedly safe, the removal of normality and the idea that it can happen to anyone.

Once you’ve seen The Strangers in all its glory you’re able to pick out all the references and similarities you see in other horrors that came after, and appreciate all the tropes it employs. It’s seemingly such an unremarkable film because of the simplicity of the plot and the one-location basis, but behind that is so much more.

This being said, one watch is all you need. It’s not so complex that rewatching can reveal new information to you, nor is it such a remarkable visual experience that you want to experience it anew.
