A whole generation of people are scared to say the word Beetlejuice three times in a row, and cant help but launch into the dance of the undead upon hearing the opening strains of Harry Belfontes Jump In The Line. Dont know what Im talking about? Just watch the movie and itll all make sense. Beetlejuice, a twisted ghost story by Tim Burton which defied its humble budget to gross over $73m at the box office, was a cultural phenomenon in more ways than one. Not only was every one of Beetlejuices lines super quotable (Ive seen The Exorcist 167 times and it keeps getting funnier; go ahead, make my millennium) but Michael Keatons stellar performance as the embittered, sarcastic spook has been channeled by numerous actors since. Seriously, Johnny Depps dashing Captain Jack would have been a dummy without the Beetlejuice influence to draw upon. With the movie ending on a surreal high, however, is there any more story left to tell?
