Strange, brilliant and timeless are three adjectives that perfectly sum up the Bill And Ted franchise. Despite being based on the pop culture of the 1980s, teenagers dont change all that much from one generation to the next, a fact that has seen Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey remain relevant for nearly thirty years. Its no surprise, then, that the creators and cast have finally given in to public demand for a third installment. Though still at the scriptwriting stage, both Alex Winter (Bill) and Keanu Reeves (Ted) have confirmed their involvement with original producers Ed Soloman and Chris Matheson sharing direction duties. With the second film ending on a ZZ Top high, the boys defeating death by resorting to the time-honoured weapon of heavy metal, we left them standing on the cusp of a brave new world in which people worship only the music of their terrible garage band. But with the guys now in their fifties, where does the franchise go next? According to Reeves, Bill And Ted 3 will follow the middle-aged rockers as they attempt to save the world all over again using you guessed it rock n roll. Im so resisting the temptation to type excellent right now, but that does sound worthy of a three-decade wait. Expected release date: 2018
