10 Amazing Movie Sequels That Are Actually Being Made

5. Mary Poppins 2

Ah, the acid trip that is the first Mary Poppins movie, a 1960s classic centred around a flying nanny who, with the help of a Cockney chimney sweep named Burt, brings some much-needed magic to the lives of London€™s uptight middle classes. Smug, eccentric and brutally authoritarian she may be, yet Poppins€™ penchant for rebellion turned her into a babysitter so beloved that only Mrs. Doubtfire comes close. Therefore, when Disney confirmed that a second Mary Poppins movie had been given the green light, it was widely assumed that this would be another unnecessary remake in the style of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. But no! What we€™re getting is a full-blown sequel set in the 1980s. Still cynical? Perhaps the fact that Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall is at the helm should reassure you that the crackpot spirit of the original should remain intact. While little is known about the plot, Poppins, last seen drifting listlessly across the London skyline clutching an umbrella, will reportedly reunite with Bert for another adventure based on P.L. Travers' books, though with Julie Andrews (Poppins) and Dick Van Dyke (Bert) now aged 80 and 90 respectively, it€™s safe to assume there€™ll be an all-new cast. Expected release date: 2019
