3. Dangling A Child Out Of A Car Window - Fatal Termination
The Hong Kong action films of decades past aren't exactly known for giving a damn about safety, but this ascended to a whole new level of questionable morality when a
child was thrown into the fray. The scene involves a perp kidnapping a child and dangling her out of the window for the entirety of a car chase, while the mother clings to the bonnet in an attempt to save her. What's most disturbing is how scant details about the scene actually are, and though it appears that the child is attached to a rig (presumably that's a metal pole doubling for an arm), the car is still clearly travelling extremely fast (despite some claiming that the scene is undercranked in parts, to imply a faster speed), and the terror on the child's face is palpable. It's safe to say that you couldn't get away with this sort of thing now, and though placing the child in abject danger absolutely enhances our visceral, emotional engagement with the scene, can it really be considered
right?
