10 Amazing Plot Twists In Otherwise Awful Movies

8. Die Another Day - Miranda Frost Is A Double Agent

Die Another Day is almost universally agreed to be a creative nadir for the James Bond series, so much so that even producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli admitted that they misjudged this instalment.

Funnily enough, the first 25 minutes of Die Another Day are pretty great, but the film then descends into something so stupid and so ridiculously over-the-top that it goes far beyond parody. It's a movie filled with nonsensical plot turns, including the reveal that the hammy British billionaire Bond is trying to stop is actually a North Korean who's undergone gene therapy.

It is surprising, then, that there is actually a clever plot twist hiding within all of the chaos: Bond Girl and young MI6 agent Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike, in her very first role) is actually a double-agent working with lead villain Gustave Graves (Toby Stephens).

Having the young, nervous-seeming MI6 agent who'd apparently fallen into Bond's arms turn out to be the MI6 mole who'd betrayed Bond to the North Koreans earlier was a smart, unexpected move indeed, and the scene where she reveals herself is one of Die Another Day's best, too. An enraged Bond tries to shoot her, but his gun is unloaded. Frost then quips, in a wonderfully evil manner, "It was so good of you to bring your gun to bed with us."

Frost is also a great character all around, and Pike offered an early glimpse of the bright future she had ahead of her.
