10 Amazing Psychological Horrors You've Never Heard Of
6. Session 9
You may think that no good film can start by following an asbestos removal company, but you would be wrong.
Session 9 follows a group of workers tasked with cleaning up an old abandoned psychiatric hospital, each of them carrying fears and burdens of their own.
Whilst working, one of the men (Mike) finds a box of tapes that play out nine sessions of therapy undergone by one patient, Mary. Mary suffered from dissociative identity disorder and, over the coming days of work, Mike finds himself unable to ignore his curiosity about what the tapes have in store for Mary.
Disembodied voices and shadowy figures threaten each of the men before an explosive conclusion reveals the relevance of Mary’s suffering all those years prior, with the tapes holding the key to all the harrowing happenings inside the now empty hospital.
Slower-burning than a lot of horrors out there, this film’s thrills are certain to stick with you long after the end credits roll.
