Told in three separate narratives entwined with one another, The Blackcoat’s Daughter revolves around three girls and one fateful boarding school.

After all the other kids have gone back home for the Christmas break, just two girls remain: one stalling her parents’ arrival over fears she may be pregnant (Rose), and the other convinced that her parents are already dead based on their lateness (Kat).

At the same time, another girl (Joan) has escaped from a local asylum and two friendly passers-by offer her a lift to the school, which is near to the place she claims to be heading to.

The horrific happenings and mysteries of the film's main acts reach a satisfying and heart-wrenching end, as we finally discover the connection between the girls and the school that holds them.

Everyone’s favourite TV scream queen, Emma Roberts, delivers a classic performance and the others do not cower in her shadow. As with most psychological horrors, this one is best enjoyed with as little prior knowledge as possible. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the crazy.
