10 Amazing Psychological Horrors You've Never Heard Of
3. Marrowbone
It’s quite surprising how under-the-radar this film has stayed considering the viral value of so many of its stars: Hollywood’s boy next door George MacKay, The Queen’s Gambit’s Anya Taylor-Joy and Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton all feature in prominent roles.
Coming out in 2017, this film’s release does predate the popularity of some of its famous faces but guarantees the same quality performances we’ve come to know them for.
In a nutshell, a mother moves her family from England to Maine and then promptly kicks the bucket, leaving them to fend for themselves in secret until the oldest child, Jack (George MacKay) can officially care for his younger siblings.
The siblings stay holed up in their house, with the attic locked and all the mirrors covered in an effort to avoid the ghost they fear haunts their home.
As more outsiders become unavoidably implicated in the siblings’ lives, things begin to fall apart in ways we never imagined.
With an ending twist sure to punch you right in the gut, this film should be on your watch-list if you’re after a dark tale of woe to enjoy on these cold winter nights.
